Remembrances

Chris Shaia, a member of my church, passed away Sunday; he was 43 years old. I did not know him well, but remember seeing his smiling face at church. There are many testimonials about him here:
My heart aches for his family, and I pray that they will find comfort and peace.

Chris's untimely death brought back memories of my younger sister, who passed away at the age of 25. She was a special girl. I hope that the following commemoration conveys what she was like:

"For My Sister"

For my sister, Sarah, whose love and laughter brightened so many lives. I thank God for having had a sister like you: Your zany, unique sense of humor; your creativity; your ability to make everyone around you feel loved. I will never forget the unselfish love that you showed us all, like the time you came home on your birthday with gifts for everyone else in our family. I know I have to let you go, but I will always hold the memory of you in my heart. May God hold you in His loving arms, and grant you eternal peace.

Thank you to friends old and new for your support and prayers after Sarah's death. The heartfelt notes, cards, flowers, and all of the ways you reached out to my family and me were truly overwhelming. May God richly bless you all for your kindness and generosity.
